Founded more than 20 years ago, ROMA Scaffolding is known for delivering large and complex public projects ahead of schedule and on budget. We specialize in exterior restorations and roof replacement and serve as a general contractor.

From our headquarters in Long Island City, NY, we work with clients across the five boroughs. We are proud of the long-lasting relationships we have cultivated over the past two decades. Our clients return to us again and again because we take the time to understand their specific needs, dedicate a highly skilled team to every project, and minimize disruptions to operations and residents.

When we perform the role of general contractor, we use an established group of subcontractors with the capability to tackle a wide array of projects. We select the right team members to “handle the hard stuff,” leaving our clients hassle-free.

Today, ROMA has grown to more than 100 employees, all of whom are committed to quality, collaboration, and safety. Our emphasis on “safety first” has positioned us as a preferred contractor for clients in the public sector.

A dedicated team from ROMA supervises and manages each project. Everything we do takes our clients’ needs into account, and we adapt as the needs evolve throughout the project lifecycle.

From inception, we work to identify project risk, outline safety precautions, and schedule milestones to eliminate surprises. Meet Our Team

Helen Aniftos
President

Helen joined Roma Scaffolding in 2009. As president, she oversees all office operations, including accounting, proposal development, and negotiations with suppliers. She also devotes much of her time to meeting and collaborating with clients. Previously, Helen held roles that focused on, computer programming, operations analysis, underwriting, and office management. Helen received a B.B.A from Bernard M. Baruch College of The City University of New York with a major in insurance/finance and a minor in marketing/advertising.

Astrit Skara
Vice President

Astrit has been at Roma Scaffolding since 2007. In the role of vice president, he oversees administration and daily field operations. His responsibilities include reviews of potential jobsites and buildings, cost projections, permit scheduling, supervision of installations, submittals, inspections, and maintenance support. Before joining Roma, Astrit served as general foreman for Ace Scaffolding Corporation, where he directed all School Construction Authority (SCA) projects in New York City. He also held the position of foreman in previous tenures at Dorel Scaffolding, EF Pace Contractors, and Santa Maria Construction.

Imran Sajjad
Senior Project Manager

Since joining Roma Scaffolding in 2014, Imran has developed a reputation for successful completions of multi-million-dollar projects with tight deadlines. Much of his work revolves around brickwork contracts with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). He also works closely with the executive team on business planning, and guides staff to meet objectives. Previously, Imran served as a project manager on various renovation projects for multiple city agencies, where he managed all aspects of construction projects, including bidding, permitting, scheduling, and supervision of field operations and closeouts. Imran received a Master of Science in construction management from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University and a Bachelor of Science in electrical and computer engineering from Rutgers University.

Artur Matys
General Superintendent

Artur has been at Roma Scaffolding since it was first established in 2001. Over the past decades, he has managed multi-million-dollar projects for the New York Housing Authority (NYCHA). Clients rely on him for expertise in all areas of construction work and for safety guidance. Previously, Artur held roles as construction project manager and construction superintendent. He also ran his own general contracting company that specialized in waterproofing and masonry. Artur, who speaks Polish and Russian in addition to English, studied at the Undergraduate School for Interior & Exterior Design and the Technical School of Wood Production and Technology in Poland. Artur is a licensed DOB superintendent.
